WHO IS IT FOR AND WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

As with all Visa’s in Indonesia, they can be unnecessarily complicated and time consuming. In this guide we explain the types of Spouse KITAS available, look at the benefits and give tips and advice to ensure you obtain the correct visa for your needs.

The Spouse Sponsored KITAS is the Visa you are looking for if you are a foreigner married to an Indonesian Citizen. There are two available options :

• The Spouse Sponsored KITAS(Kartu Izin Tinggal Terbatas) which
  carries a one-year validity.
• The Spouse Sponsored KITAP (Kartu Izin Tinggal Tetap) which carries a
  5-year validity.

By obtaining the Spouse Sponsored Visa there are many perks, which include: Validity to stay in Indonesia for up to 5 years. An Indonesian ID KTP (Kartu Tanda Penduduk. Ability to obtain a drivers license, open bank accounts, apply for loans and credit cards. Eligibility to become an Indonesian Citizen. Eligibility to work or be able to start your own business as a sole entrepreneur without additional application of a work permit. Eligibility for joint ownership of property with your spouse.

Additionally, you will receive a variety of other documentation including: Multiple entry permit, Indonesian ID and a national police registration card SKLD.

WHY TO GET A KITAS?

First and foremost, without it, you won’t stay longer in Indonesia. Plus there are several additional perks when holding a KITAS. Often you get discounts in restaurants, or attraction parks (mainly in Jakarta or Bali). Hospitals also usually have lower price-lists for KITAS holders.

You need a KITAS to apply for your Indonesian driving license. If you want to enroll your kids into an international school, they also usually check whether the child has a KITAS or not.

In some cases, after holding a KITAS for five years, one could apply for a KITAP which allows you to stay for five years with unlimited extensions.

SPOUSE KITAS REQUIREMENTS :

• Marriage Certificate.
• CNI (certificate of no impediment) from Embassy.
• Sponsorship ID card of wife / husband, (Bali).
• Birth Certificate of wife / husband as a sponsor.
• Family Card (KK).
• All scans must be in color.
• ID of foreign passport min. validity of 18 months.
• Must have at least 4 blank pages on the passport.
• Bank statement min. IDR 30,000,000.
• Last stamp visa validity (For onshore).
• Photo with red background.
• Address in Bali.
• Spouse KITAS is valid for 1 (one) year

* for KTP and KK must have changed the status to married and the
location must be in Bali
